Abstract

This article presents the SOQ (Sense, Originality, Quality) methodology for mapping and quantifying multimodal meaning in contemporary art, including works using artificial intelligence technologies. SOQ is positioned not as a ready-made measurement system, but as a proof-of-concept: a conceptual framework and a set of operational components requiring empirical validation. The methodology is built around the concept of a dynamic macronetwork of semantic nodes, each with defined parameters of scale, vitality, source type, novelty, and visibility. The article's main contributions include: an operational definition of a semantic node, the SOQ_total formula with explicitly defined scales and dimensions for all components, a minimal working example of applying the methodology to a specific work, and a validation protocol specifying baselines of comparison. This article is intended for researchers working at the intersection of digital humanities, multimodal semiotics, and the analysis of AI-generated content.
